EPT KISS&HUG

If you watched Kirstie’s Homemade Home on Channel 4 last night, you will have seen the very talented Emily Peacock with her fabulous tapestries.  You can create your own work of cross stitch art using one of Emily’s kits which comes with everything you need.  The Kiss and Hug kits are available in a small or large size and made a perfect project for winter nights or an ideal Christmas gift.

If these kits seem a bit daunting, we have a range of cross stitch and other kits available to buy at Hunkydory Home.  If you love the cross stitch, but don’t have the time or the inclination to make your own, you might be interested in our range of hand stitched samplers which are far from traditional!

It’s official, the heating’s on, winter is on our doorstep and here in Northumberland it’s already bitterly cold.

Even thought the nights are longer it’s not all gloom; here’s some of our favourite things about this time of year:

  • Crunching Autumn leaves.
  • Boots.
  • Hand knitted bed socks from Hush
  • Snuggling up on the sofa.
  • Endless hot cups of tea.
  • Fox Scarf from Donna Wilson (mr hunkydory please note, this is on mrs hunkydory’s Christmas list!)
  • Winter Bird Hot Water Bottle from Hunkydory Home
  • It’s almost Christmas!

New From Jane Jenni

Posted by hunky on Nov 09 2010 | Hunkydory Home

Hunkydory Home is pleased to expand it’s range of products from Jane Jenni – a super-talented designer from the USA.

Just in are these playful insulated lunch bags which make a great alternative to bulky plastic lunch boxes. These kitschy bags are available in two designs: ‘Cabin Fever’ and ‘Birdhouse’ and are fully insulated, wipe clean and free from PVC, lead and phthalates. They feature lots of Jane Jenni creations and their house shapes are great for imaginative play too, great for kids from pre-school through primary. They cost £18.00 each.

Make mealtimes fun with these adorable melamine plates perfect for kids, picnics and camping. Each design incorporates a word and an image to create a saying which gives each piece its own personality and keeps the kids interested. The funky graphic design makes them great for adults too. Our latest design is the gorgeous ‘Peace Loving’ plate which, together with the ‘Happy Camper’ design are great for festival goers!

The 9” plates are made from 100% melamine – they are hard-wearing, shatterproof and dishwasher safe. At only £8.99 for the plates, they make an affordable design statement (we’ve even known people to display them on their wall!).

Jane Jenni is a super-talented designer from the USA; her fabulous products are not yet widely available in the UK.  Alison Ellerbrook, founder of Hunkydory Home, came across them on a trip to America a few years ago; fell in love and decided to bring them back.

Word Products By Keith Brymer Jones

Posted by hunky on Oct 06 2010 | Hunkydory Home

New this week, products from the classic ‘whiteware with a twist’ Word range from Keith Brymer Jones.

This fabulous set of egg cups features the question “What Came First The Chicken Or The Egg” across the four egg cups. Each porcelain piece has a word stamped on it glazed with a different colour; the stamped words recalling old typeset fonts of newspapers and books. At just £15.00 and presented in a gift box, this would make the perfect gift or treat for the breakfast table.

From the same range is the simple, contemporary “tea” teapot – its beautiful shape contrasted with the high white porcelain body give it a country feel but with urban elegance.

And, because every good teapot needs an equally fantastic tea cosy, we’ve got 2 to choose from: “brew” and “cuppa” and they’re only £8.00 each.

Reusable Wrapping & Cards – Because Anything Else Is Rubbish!

Posted by hunky on Oct 02 2010 | Hunkydory Home

Russian Dollshumming birds

These gorgeous eco-friendly products are now in stock at Hunkydory Home. Fantastic reusable fabric wrapping which can then be used as a scarf, bag, cushion cover (or as wrapping again) and quirky greetings cards with paper insert which can be replaced to be used again and again and again…

The reusable wrap (retails for £3.99) is based on the traditional Japanese method of wrapping gifts in beautiful fabric known as furoshiki, which can then be reused – as a bag, or scarf, or cushion cover or tea towel. Made of 100% cotton and designed by hot young British talent at 70cm square it’s a decent size to wrap a variety of gifts.
It’s easy to wrap presents too – there’s no need for scissors or sticky tape – just one bow. That’s it. Stunning simplicity.
We currently have three lovely designs of the fabric wrap: Russian Dolls, Hummingbirds and Safari all cost £3.99.

The reusable greetings cards are pretty impressive too. They have a rather nifty paper insert which the recipient simply replaces to send the card on to someone else. That’s it. All handmade in the UK on 100% recycled, PH neutral paper and packed in a biodegradable cellophane bag, with a 100% recycled paper insert, reusable rubber band and recycled envelope.
There’s a quirky range of famous moustaches and spectacles to choose from and they retail for £2.25 with free postage.

All designed and produced by Evergreen in the UK, as they say – you don’t have to grow dodgy facial hair to be a bit green!

The Make Lounge

Posted by hunky on Jun 27 2010 | Funky Things

IMG_1881

Even though we love being here in the North East, sometimes we get a little bit frustrated that we are based so far from London and The Make Lounge gives us another reason to be!
The Make Lounge offers contemporary craft workshops with a stylish, social twist and also has a retail shop stocking haberdashery and craft supplies so you can carry on crafting at home. It’s probably just as well we are so far away or we’d be booking onto lots of their clases – we particularly like the sound of the Fashion-tastic Biscuit Decorating and the Crochet Amigurumi Toys.

On Sunday, July 18 from 3-5:30 p.m., The Make Lounge is holding a Blooming Great Tea Party to benefit Marie Curie Cancer Care with all proceeds from ticket sales going to benefit this wonderful and worthwhile organisation.
Hunkydory Home is keen to support this great event and is donating one of these clocks as a raffle prize, other prizes include a Janome Sewing Machine, Green & Blacks Hamper, Yoga Lesson, Crafty Books, and a whole variety of gorgeous handmade lovelies!
See full details here.

We’ll keep working on them to open up here in the North, but in the meantime (if you’re too far from London like us) you could always get crafty with one of our kits.
