Dot To Date Calendar

Posted by hunky on Nov 24 2010 | Hunkydory Home

Dot to Date – the dot to dot calendar from dan usiskin on Vimeo.

This ingenious calendar is the creation of UK designer Dan Usiskin and makes a rather fabulous gift.

It’s not just a desk calendar though… this is grown-up dot-to-dot -join each day to the next (however you like, with whatever you like) to create London landmarks. Watch as your very own London skyline takes shape over the year.
The calendar is received blank except for the numbered dots, packed inside a box that transforms easily into an effective picture frame to display your masterpieces in. On the reverse side the designs feature information about each landmark. Each card can be used as a postcard too – how versatile is that?

It is 100% recycled and recyclable, printed with water and vegetable based inks and designed, produced and printed in the UK.

At only £12.00 it’s the ideal stocking filler and available to buy here from Hunkydory Home.

Please note: this is not ‘year specific’ so can be started at any time and used for any year.

Stocking Fillers: Gifts Under £10.00

Posted by hunky on Nov 20 2010 | Hunkydory Home

With Christmas just around the corner we thought we’d add a few gift suggestions to the blog. Today we’ve got some ideas for little pressies under £10.00 suitable for kids and adults alike.

KCMAG1

The ‘Don’t Tell Me To Keep Calm’ fridge magnet may be the perfect filler for the poor soul stressing out in the kitchen on Christmas Day (and far more agreeable than the ‘Keep Calm & Carry On’ phrase!) and it’s only £3.00!

The ‘Light Up Your Mood’ light switch stickers are such fun (and may keep your little ones busy for a little while on Christmas morning before waking you up!). Transform the boring old light switches in your home with fun faces – perfect for kids rooms (although what light switch doesn’t need a moustache?). Enough stickers for 8 faces cost £6.00.

As Seen On Tv!

EPT KISS&HUG

If you watched Kirstie’s Homemade Home on Channel 4 last night, you will have seen the very talented Emily Peacock with her fabulous tapestries.  You can create your own work of cross stitch art using one of Emily’s kits which comes with everything you need.  The Kiss and Hug kits are available in a small or large size and made a perfect project for winter nights or an ideal Christmas gift.

If these kits seem a bit daunting, we have a range of cross stitch and other kits available to buy at Hunkydory Home.  If you love the cross stitch, but don’t have the time or the inclination to make your own, you might be interested in our range of hand stitched samplers which are far from traditional!

It’s official, the heating’s on, winter is on our doorstep and here in Northumberland it’s already bitterly cold.

Even thought the nights are longer it’s not all gloom; here’s some of our favourite things about this time of year:

  • Crunching Autumn leaves.
  • Boots.
  • Hand knitted bed socks from Hush
  • Snuggling up on the sofa.
  • Endless hot cups of tea.
  • Fox Scarf from Donna Wilson (mr hunkydory please note, this is on mrs hunkydory’s Christmas list!)
  • Winter Bird Hot Water Bottle from Hunkydory Home
  • It’s almost Christmas!

New From Jane Jenni

Hunkydory Home is pleased to expand it’s range of products from Jane Jenni – a super-talented designer from the USA.

Just in are these playful insulated lunch bags which make a great alternative to bulky plastic lunch boxes. These kitschy bags are available in two designs: ‘Cabin Fever’ and ‘Birdhouse’ and are fully insulated, wipe clean and free from PVC, lead and phthalates. They feature lots of Jane Jenni creations and their house shapes are great for imaginative play too, great for kids from pre-school through primary. They cost £18.00 each.

Make mealtimes fun with these adorable melamine plates perfect for kids, picnics and camping. Each design incorporates a word and an image to create a saying which gives each piece its own personality and keeps the kids interested. The funky graphic design makes them great for adults too. Our latest design is the gorgeous ‘Peace Loving’ plate which, together with the ‘Happy Camper’ design are great for festival goers!

The 9” plates are made from 100% melamine – they are hard-wearing, shatterproof and dishwasher safe. At only £8.99 for the plates, they make an affordable design statement (we’ve even known people to display them on their wall!).

Jane Jenni is a super-talented designer from the USA; her fabulous products are not yet widely available in the UK.  Alison Ellerbrook, founder of Hunkydory Home, came across them on a trip to America a few years ago; fell in love and decided to bring them back.
