Toddler Tuesday At The Baltic

What a lovely morning we had today at the Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art. The hunkydory family is very fond of this place and we often visit before taking a stroll along the Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside, but today was all about ‘little miss’ as today was ‘Toddler Tuesday’!

Little miss is 3 years old and loves making things, sticking things, cutting things and being creative generally, so this was the ideal activity for her. Sitting in a cardboard castle (made in a previous session) we made colourful fish and bracelets taking comfort in the fact that the mess would be left behind instead of all over the kitchen floor and, despite it being a bit chaotic, fun was had by all.

After the organised activity we had a lovely time playing in the Quay area on Level 2 which is full of books, blocks, drawing/creative materials and even a rowing boat which is fantastic for imaginative play.

An art gallery isn’t the first place that springs to mind to take kids too, but we think the Baltic has the balance just right and it makes for a lovely trip for adults and children alike and just try to resist the gift shop on the way out!
